Warning Issued After Cans of Celsius Energy Drink Accidentally Filled With Vodka

How Vodka Ended Up in Celsius Energy Drink Cans

Fans of the popular Celsius energy drink are being urged to check their cans after some were accidentally filled with vodka seltzer.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) issued the warning for the brand’s ASTRO VIBE Sparkling Blue Razz edition.

This comes after hard seltzer maker High Noon discovered it was mistakenly shipped empty Celsius energy drink cans by a shared packaging supplier, which it then filled with the alcoholic mix.

Once it realized the bizarre mishap had occurred, a recall was initiated for specific batches in collaboration with the FDA.

Two production lots of High Noon’s Beach Variety packs are at the center of the blunder, which the FDA published details for on its website.

No illnesses or adverse events have been reported for the impacted cans to date, it added.

The recalled High Noon packs feature the universal product code: 085000040065, along with the following lot codes on the exterior of the 12-packs:

  • L CCC 17JL25 14:00 to L CCC 17JL25 23:59
  • L CCC 18JL25 00:00 to L CCC 18JL25 03:00

The Celsius energy drink cans include the universal product code: 8 89392 00134 1, along with lot codes lasered on the bottom of the cans:

  • L CCB 02JL25 2:55 to L CCB 02JL25 3:11

The products were shipped to retailers in Florida, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin from July 21 to July 23, and feature a silver top.

“Even if not purchased in a High Noon Beach Variety pack, consumers should be advised to ensure their CELSIUS ASTRO VIBE Energy Drink, Sparkling Blue Razz Edition does not contain the lot codes (L CCB 02JL25 2:55 to L CCB 02JL25 3:11), prior to consuming,” the FDA said.

“Consumers are advised to dispose of the CELSIUS ASTRO VIBE Energy Drink, Sparkling Blue Razz Edition cans with the impacted lot codes (L CCB 02JL25 2:55 to L CCB 02JL25 3:11) and not consume the liquid,” it added.

“High Noon Beach Variety packs with different lot codes than above are not affected by this recall and are safe to consume.”

Anyone who has purchased the affected High Noon or Celsius energy drink cans is being urged to contact the former’s Consumer Relations team for a refund.
