Strongman Mitchell Hooper Officially Confirmed For 2026 Enhanced Games

2023 World’s Strongest Man Mitchell Hooper has confirmed that he’s joined the lineup for the May 2026 Enhanced Games.

He’ll be going head-to-head with Hafþór “Thor” Björnsson to attempt a deadlift world record at the inaugural games in Las Vegas in just a few months’ time.

What are the Enhanced Games?

The Enhanced Games is a controversial new international sports event where participants are allowed to use performance‑enhancing drugs under medical guidance to push the boundaries of human performance.

Founded by Aron D’Souza, the event will debut in May 2026 in Las Vegas and will feature athletes competing across sprinting, swimming, and, of course, weightlifting.

Who is Mitchell Hooper?

Hooper – the first Canadian to ever take the title of World’s Strongest Man – has also claimed multiple victories at the Arnold Strongman Classic and other major international competitions such as the Rogue Invitational.

His Canadian heritage and enormous stature have earned him the nickname ‘The Moose’.

Who is Hafþór “Thor” Björnsson?

Hafþór “Thor” Björnsson is an Icelandic strongman and actor, best known for winning the World’s Strongest Man in 2018 and for his role as “The Mountain” in Game of Thrones.

He’s also the current deadlift world record holder, after lifting 510kg at the World Deadlift Championships in Birmingham last year.

Strongman vs Strongman: Who will win?

The Enhanced Games announced the deadlift showdown between Hooper and Björnsson in a recent Instagram post.

And it’s not just bragging rights up for grabs – the pair have been offered a $250,000 World Record bonus.
