Pepsi Prebiotic Cola: The stats
Pepsi Prebiotic Cola launches in two flavours: Original Cola and Cherry Vanilla. Neither contains any artificial sweeteners.
Each can comes in at 30 calories, with 5g of sugar (down from the usual 15g) and the all-important 3g of prebiotic fiber.
According to the brand, the slimline formula doesn’t come at the expense of the “iconic Pepsi taste that consumers love”.

Prebiotics act as food for the “good” bacteria in your gut, which help digestion, support the immune system and maintain the gut lining.
So, is Pepsi Prebiotic Cola actually healthy?
Lawrence David, a professor of molecular genetics and microbiology at Duke University, told Newsweek: “This product’s 3 grams of fiber per can is not insignificant.
“Most Americans are recommended at least 20 grams of fiber per day but only average around 10 to 15, so something is likely better than nothing.”
However, experts have advised that prebiotic sodas shouldn’t replace the fibre gained from whole foods.
Pepsi’s new offering will undoubtedly help busy Americans grab a quick top-up of gut-friendly prebiotics, but, according to health professionals, it should be seen as just that – a top-up.
