Dream Big: The Olympia Movie Offers an Unprecedented Peek Behind the Curtain at Bodybuilding’s Biggest Celebration
Amazon Prime is marking six decades of bodybuilding history with the launch of Dream Big: The Olympia Movie.
Directed by Russian filmmaker Vlad Yudin, the documentary follows the lead-up to last year’s Mr. Olympia finals, which celebrated the 60th anniversary of the iconic competition.
Captured during preparations for this milestone event, Dream Big: The Olympia Movie has been hailed as a “landmark feature” that immerses viewers in the world’s premier bodybuilding and fitness event.
The film seeks to showcase the passion and cultural significance of Joe Weider’s Olympia Fitness & Performance Weekend, challenging common assumptions about the sport’s elite athletes.
“I think people look at bodybuilding as a bunch of juice heads that take supplements, get on stage, and that’s really about it,” said Mr. Olympia President Dan Solomon in the official trailer.
“But it’s not just what you do in the gym; it’s the 23 hours you’re doing outside of the gym. Nutrition, the posing — they have to put in so much work to be able to get where they’re at.”
The documentary highlights some of the sport’s top figures, including the standout competitors from 2024.
Samson Dauda gives an in-depth interview, detailing his journey to Olympia glory and foreshadowing his podium-topping performance in Las Vegas.
This year’s Men’s Open champion, Derek Lunsford, is also prominently featured. Lunsford captured the title in 2023, finished third in 2024, and then reclaimed the crown during the 61st edition of Mr. Olympia in October.
Other leading athletes showcased in the film include Hadi Choopan, Andrew Jacked, Nick Walker, and reigning Ms. Olympia Andrea Shaw, who has dominated the division each year since its return in 2020.
Dream Big: The Olympia Movie debuted on Tuesday, 9th December, and is now streaming on Amazon Prime.
Included in Prime memberships, the documentary runs for 1 hour and 38 minutes and is a must-watch for bodybuilding enthusiasts.
