Lee Keifer, right-handed foil fencer, made history on August 4th, 2024, by winning her third Olympic gold medal. She and her teammate, Lauren Scruggs, in a display of skill worked hand in hand to achieve a 10-5 lead and secure their place as the winners of Women’s foil fencing.

Career Highlights
Lee’s father was a fencer earlier in life and her inspiration to start fencing at age six. Her two siblings are seasoned fencers so her impressive fencing prowess comes as no shock.
She won her first medal at just 17years and has since then gone on to be the most decorated women’s foil fencer in the U.S.
While at University of Notre Dame, Lee Keifer won four NCAA championships consecutively. She has equally clinched medals at the Grand Prix and the World Cup multiple times.
The 30-year old from Cleveland has earned herself the title “First athlete to win eight consecutive individual titles at the Pan American Championships”.
She belongs to Bluegrass Fencers Club and is being coached by Amgad Khazbak who says “Lee is a star;a star in fencing and now a star all over the world”.
Life outside the Olympics
Lee is wife to Gerek Meinhardt, a fencer and Olympics medallist like herself, and is presently a third year medical student at the University of Kentucky. She volunteers at a Kentucky non-profit organization connecting individuals with abortion care resources and travels the world with her husband in her spare time.
