Jake Paul challenges Floyd Mayweather to a ‘real fight’ after running from him and his team in a street altercation.
The fracas unfolded as the YouTuber was leaving the Cavaliers-Heat game on Wednesday in Miami. He was approached by Mayweather and what appeared to be a large group of his entourage.
Video footage shows Paul and Mayweather – flanked by several people, including security – standing just feet from each other.
Mayweather, who boasts a 50-0 record as a professional boxer, then attempts to get past Paul’s security while other group members threaten to ‘bust him up’.
Paul explained why he took off and ran in an Instagram live video: “Floyd Mayweather and 50 dudes pull up out of nowhere, out of like some side alley, waiting for me outside of the stadium, and they’re like, ‘So what’s up? So what’s all that talk now?’
“I’m like, first of all, what did I say to you, Floyd? I just took your hat and you’re still mad about it? Come on, bro. And then 50 dudes literally start surrounding me to try to jump me, and I’m out that b****, OK?
“Floyd, you want to run it one-on-one, no problem, but I’m not dumb. I’m tough, I don’t need to prove my toughness… I’m not going to sit there and try to fight 50 dudes… You’re mad because I took your hat; are you serious? Move on.”
In the live video, Paul, 26, was referring to an incident in May 2021 when he grabbed Mayweather’s hat off his head during a conference to promote an exhibition fight against his older brother, Logan Paul.
Paul, fresh off his first loss as a professional boxer to Tommy Fury, has since doubled down on his offer to fight 46-year-old Mayweather.
He tweeted: “Floyd if you want to fight one-on-one we can do that but don’t try to hop out of 3 cars 25 dudes deep trying to jump me while I’m trying to enjoy my Wednesday night.”
Before later adding: “Floyd will not see me one-on-one in a real fight. That’s a fact. His team has hit my team numerous times to do one of his ‘exhibitions’. Now he ambushes me. Come see me in the ring, real fight, no exhibition robbing fans bulls***.”
